Job Description:
POSITION TITLE: Municipal Armed Security Guard POSITION
DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS Woodbridge Township is seeking to hire
qualified individuals for the position of Municipal Armed Security
Guard(s). This is a part time position and the hours are generally
8:30am-4:30pm. Must have excellent interpersonal skills . Under
direction, patrols the building and provides protection to persons
gathered therein from harm, and guards and protects public property
against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal or unauthorized entry;
does other related duties as required. Responsibilities include but
are not limited to : Stands at a post and maintains orderly flow of
individuals on entering and leaving. Identifies employees and
visitors entering or leaving the building by recognition of
faces/ID badges. Observes departing individuals who carry unusually
large packages or bundles to prevent the theft of government
property such as office equipment, books, films, and so forth, and
determines if the individual warrants searching. Observes
individuals entering and leaving premises to ensure their safe and
orderly conduct. Knowledge of security measures in detaining
persons. Preparedness to react promptly to situations requiring
action. Propensity to remain alert while performing repetitive
duties. Ability to maintain order among visitors. Knowledge of
procedures to follow in dealing with an emergency. Capacity to put
up with and handle verbal abuse from a person or a group.
Applicants are required to possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s
License, must be SORA Certified and possess a Retired Officers
Permit to Carry a Firearm or have a Permit to Carry a Firearm under
SORA. Other requirements include the ability to work alone or as a
team and be able to provide a Letter of Recommendation from their
