Overview
For this role the Principal Scientist in the Clinical Business Unit will be responsible for proactively providing expert scientific contribution which impacts product development and business outcomes, and positions Waters as the leading specialty measurement company in diagnostics. - This includes providing leadership to a small team of scientists in the development of new science, technologies, methods, practices and ways of working, as well as generation and presentation of scientific content using Waters product portfolio to support clinical and toxicology business activities and new product development. The key purpose of the role is the investigation of new technologies to build mass spectrometry-based assays and workflow solutions, for use in both clinical diagnostics, forensics toxicology and clinical research applications. -
Responsibilities
Due to the business needs investigation of new technologies to build mass spectrometry-based assays and workflow solutions will be the focus: - - -

• 
  
• Investigate new technologies to develop innovative workflow solutions for the clinical and forensics market. There will be a focus on sample preparation and separation.
  
• Evaluation of new hardware, software and consumables developments
  
• Provide leadership to a small team who will be developing new applications for use in clinical and toxicology laboratories
  
• Production of application notes and scientific posters for clinical research applications in accordance with clinical processes and procedures
  
• Attend scientific conferences to present data and to gather knowledge
  
• Technical presentations at internal and external meetings
  
  Qualifications
  
  • 
    
  • Qualified to degree level or higher (preferred) in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related life-science
    
  • Proven experience in LC-MS method development of small and large molecule analysis and mass spectrometry-based detection techniques
    
  • Advance scientific knowledge of field/drivers/trends/technology in
    
  • Creative problem-solving skills
    
  • Experience in Design of Experiment and statistical analysis
    
  • Excellent organisational skills
    
  • Ability to work towards specific goals and timescales
    
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
    
  • Experience in working to GLP and QMS
