Overview The Liquid Chromatography (LC) Technology Sourcing
Director will oversee all global aspects of the Waters direct
materials strategic sourcing and procurement activities for the LC
Technology. This is a key role in the Global Supply Chain
organization, one that develops, implements and executes sourcing
strategies that deliver best in class performance at an optimized
He/she leads and manages a global organization within the LC
Technology with functional responsibility for technology specific
commodity management and for LC New Product sourcing and scale up.
He/she supports and executes global Category strategies as
developed by the Category Management Organization, collaborates and
coordinates with other Technology Sourcing Directors, and enforces
the adherence of global harmonized processes.
This individual is responsible for both tactical performance and
strategic improvement of direct materials cost, quality and
delivery. He/she is responsible for building strong supplier
relationships, including managing significant Contract
Manufacturing relationships, to create an environment of ‘suppliers
as partners’ for driving long term mutual succes s.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Senior Director of Global
Sourcing, this individual will manage a multi-site team of
Commodity Managers with specialized skills in the areas of global
commodity sourcing, negotiation and supplier performance
management, for the global LC Technology.
Set strategic direction for the LC Technology by establishing a
5-year vision and business plan that supports, and is integral to
the Global Operations and Waters Corporation business
Lead and drive Global LC Commodity Strategies in conjunction
with a team of Commodity Managers that are consistent with Category
strategies established. Participate in the creation and
implementation of global harmonized policies, processes and systems
that ensure high levels of performance, consistency and efficiency
across all categories and technologies.
Enforce and participate in the establishment of best practices
for global sourcing processes that enable efficient procurement of
materials as well as administrative control and information
Manage the LC Commodity Management team to achieve Global
Sourcing goals as defined and measured by KPI’s set by the senior
Director of Global Sourcing.
Work with LC Contract Manufacturers (CM) under a “should cost”
model. Direct the CM supplier spend to the Waters Global Qualified
Supplier List where appropriate.
Collaborate cross-functionally with development, product
introduction, quality and manufacturing in creating and executing
strategies for enabling new product introduction, reducing material
costs, improving quality and ensuring security of supply.
Develop LC sourcing and supplier strategies to improve cost,
quality and service by creating strong ‘suppliers as partners’
supplier relationships that enable long term mutual success.
Create and execute LC improvement roadmaps that consistency
deliver year over year improvements in cost, quality and
Influence, and negotiate with, other parts of the enterprise to
adopt global sourcing recommendations.
Explore and seize opportunities to elevate the global sourcing
function into a business advantage for the overall corporation.
Foster a culture of high performance, focusing on engagement,
accountability, innovation, modernization and collaboration that
supports the Waters Employee Success Model.
Continuous development of staff and succession plans for key
Travel : Domestic and International is required
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Business
Administration, Engineering or related field. MBA is preferred.
A minimum of 7 years management experience within a Procurement
and/or Strategic Sourcing organization with responsibility for
international and domestic supply chains.
Managerial experience dealing with outsourcing, contract
manufacturing and third-party risk.
Demonstrated project and program management skills and
Demonstrated ability to complete quantitative and qualitative
analysis and financial models
Excellent influencing, planning, problem solving, negotiation,
communication and organizational skills.
Relevant market knowledge of Waters products and businesses
