The Chief Medical Officer is a key member of the senior
leadership team at Milford Regional Medical Center (MRMC). The CMO
performs an important role in supporting and advancing clinical
practice, provider engagement, recruitment and quality. The Chief
Medical Officer serves as a resource to the Medical Staff,
physician leadership and administrative staff in credentialing,
peer review, and quality improvement. The CMO provides clinical
leadership and administrative direction in developing and attaining
strategic and operating objectives related to medical practice and
patient care activities for the Hospital. The CMO ensures effective
Medical Staff engagement and maintaining close working
relationships with Chairs of service, hospital and system
Desired Education/Experience/Skill Sets:
ï‚· Medical degree with board certification. Post-graduate
training in relevant fields of business or healthcare
ï‚· Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of
ï‚· Ten or more years post-graduate experience in clinical
ï‚· Minimum of seven years of experience in a medical leadership
role within an acute care community hospital or health system
ï‚· Strong contemporary knowledge of related laws, state and
federal regulations, Joint Commission standards, state licensing
and relevant payer requirements relating to medical practice within
an acute care hospital setting.
ï‚· Demonstrable accomplishments in leading clinical quality and
safety performance improvement initiatives ideally in both
inpatient and outpatient settings.
ï‚· Possesses broad, contemporary market insight regarding the
current status, trends and outlook for the healthcare delivery
ï‚· Track record of partnering effectively with nursing leaders
to improve clinical operations and quality of care.
ï‚· Must possess broad, contemporary market insight regarding
the current status, trends, and outlook for the healthcare delivery
ï‚· Track record of presenting complex concepts clearly and
concisely to a wide range of audiences at t he Board level and
in the hospital and physician group/ambulatory settings.
ï‚· Prior experience working with advanced clinical information
systems; experience implementing healthcare IT platform is a plus
(i.e. Meditech Expanse).
ï‚· Must have the judgement and initiative to operate
independently and autonomously in extremely delicate and sensitive
medical and hospital matters related to the Medical Staff.
ï‚· Must have a solid grasp of hospital finance and the ability
to effectively participate in strategic planning initiatives,
including new program development and clinical services.
ï‚· Must have excellent interpersonal skills as the incumbent
interacts with a broad spectrum of contacts internal to the
hospital and health system, including executive and administrative
levels and Medical staff disciplines and with high level State and
Federal affiliation, other health systems, and community
organizations external to the hospital.
ï‚· Strong communication skills and the ability to build
organizational consensus, manage the conflict that surrounds
change, and influence with integrity.
