Devices, Roku Client Application Engineering Team, you will help us
push the boundaries of what is possible on some of the most
interesting 10-foot devices in the marketplace! You'll be part of
the team that builds our Disney+ Direct-to-Consumer client app for
streaming Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Hulu, ESPN, NatGeo, and
ABC News content from one of the most popular streaming devices on
the market.Job Summary:We're looking for an experienced
Journey-level Software Engineer for the Roku Client Application
Engineering Team, where you'll be part of the team that builds our
Disney+ Direct-to-Consumer client app on Roku streaming devices and
smart TVs. We're seeking an engineer with experience in
BrightScript, SceneGraph, and a passion for creating excellent
client applications for viewers.Responsibilities and Duties of the
Role:
- Be a key member of a team responsible for building client app
experiences in BrightScript, using the Roku SceneGraph SDK.
- Develop new application features, including onboarding, browse
UI/UX, analytics, video playback UI/UX, and more. If it appears on
screen, you might work on it in code.
- Collaborate with Roku to vet new hardware, firmware, and
certification requirements from a client application
perspective.
- Work closely with SDK engineering, design, services teams, and
product owners to understand and communicate requirements and
device limitations.Required Education,
Experience/Skills/Training:Basic Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in client-side development, with
at least 2 years in BrightScript.
- Experience with MVVM architecture.
- Proficiency in designing and developing reusable utilities, UI
components, and generalized logic for multiple applications.
- Experience mentoring junior team members.Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience creating rich, performant user interfaces with
pixel-perfect designs and animations.
- Knowledge of UI-level code, patterns, architectures, and
data-driven UX presentation.
- Experience with development and troubleshooting on set-top
boxes or Smart TVs.
- Experience with diverse devices, configuration-driven
development, performance optimization, custom controls,
asynchronous code, unit testing, DevOps, gulp scripts, Jenkins, and
AWS.Required EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a
related field, or equivalent experience.
