Job Description:

The Fig Cooking School is looking for a hardworking and self-motivated dishwasher to work with us part-time (15-20 hrs/week). We are looking for a Dishwasher to join our kitchen staff and maintain cleanliness around the cooking school. Dishwasher responsibilities include collecting used dishes, plates and utensils, loading washing machines and stacking washed items appropriately. We are a recreational cooking school located in Milford, CT. We offer classes, team building events, and dinners several nights a week, as well as occasional kids workshops. Work at Fig is intense, but extremely positive and rewarding, and we always have a great time together. You'll also eat extremely well.Email applications only.   • Availability Nights and WeekendsNearly all of our classes and events take place in the afternoon/evening, and most take place on weekends. That said, we also need availability during the week.
    • Covid Vaccination RequiredCandidates must be fully vaccinated (both shots of Pfizer and Moderna, or one shot for Johnson and Johnson) and show proof of vaccination in order to be considered.
      • FlexibilityWhile we will try to make your schedule as regular as possible, the nature of our business is that things often come up and change at the last minute. We often need help on a moment's notice so flexibility is essential.
        • Strong Work EthicYou must also always be positive and flexible about the tasks assigned to you.
          • OrganizationWe pride ourselves on keeping the kitchen clean and neat. You must be good not only at minute-to-minute organizing (washing dishes as we cook, keeping a handle on dishes, etc.) but also large scale organizing, like doing overhauls of the shelves where dishware, glassware and utensils are stored.
            • Positive AttitudeWe spend a lot of time together, so there's no room for complaining, negativity or drama of any kind.
              • ReliabilityYou have to show up when you say you're going to show up.
                • Transportation + LocationReliable transportation is a must. Living nearby is a plus.
                  • Attention to DetailSmall changes make a big difference towards making our space look put together and giving our guests a positive experience.
                    • CleanlinessAlways follow proper hygiene and food safety practices. We shouldn't have to tell you to wash your hands.
                      • Over age 18
                      • A degree of physical fitnessAbility to lift some bulky boxes. Preferable but not required.
                        • ReferencesResponsibilities
                          • Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas
                          • Load and unload dishwashing machines
                          • Wash specific items by hand (e.g. wooden cutting boards, large pots and delicate china)
                          • Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately
                          • Set up workstations before meal prep begins
                          • Ensure there are always enough clean dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours
                          • Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents) and place orders when necessary
                          • Check washing machines' operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues
                          • Remove garbage regularly
                          • Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floorSkills
                            • Work experience as a Dishwasher or on Wait Staff
                            • Hands-on experience with industrial washing machines
                            • Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed
                            • Time management skills
                            • Attention to detail and sanitation rules
                            • Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings
