Overview
Waters Corporation is currently seeking a highly energetic and team-oriented candidate to join our Reliability Engineering Team. The Reliability Engineering Team is responsible for ensuring robustness and longevity of our product family which consists of analytical laboratory / medical device instrumentation used in Liquid Chromatography. The Sr. Reliability Engineer helps define reliability goals, develops evaluation plans, assesses risk and facilitates design improvements. This role will lead projects to evaluate robustness and characterize reliability of new products while in development as well as enhancements made to existing products. Additional responsibilities for the Sr. Reliability Engineer may include the supervision of Reliability Engineers and/or Technicians, coordinating transactional activity with other functions or suppliers, and giving presentations or seminars to educate on reliability and quality tools and principles.
Responsibility will begin during feasibility stages of product development and continue through product introduction. Collaboration with Quality, Production, Machining Operations organizations and various engineering disciplines is essential. The role will be exposed to multi-disciplined engineering principles and technologies in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to deal with product change while proceeding through product development and optimization. - This hands-on position requires dynamic leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving, critical thinking, as well as a compelling initiative to promote success.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide reliability engineering input as a member of new product development teams.
    • Collaborate with new product development teams to establish reliability requirements, evaluation strategies and schedules in support of LC systems development
    • Collaborate with cross functional teams to support reliability / continuous improvement initiatives and enhancements to existing products throughout life cycle.
    • Perform risk assessments and generate test plans to evaluate product and/or components.
    • Analyze failure rates, failure modes, and failure mechanisms to determine root cause and support robust product design
    • Communicate findings to project teams and/or Operations Management Teams through written communications and technical presentations
    • Apply statistics, consult, problem solve/understand physical and practical relationships
    • Manage multiple projects in parallel
    • Mentor department personnel (Jr Engineers/Technicians), manage resources and promote continuous employee development.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in one of the following engineering disciplines; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical. Advanced degree preferred
      • Minimum 10 years experience preferably working in a product evaluation or design and development environment. Experience with medical devices is highly desired
      • Proficient with SAP and Microsoft Office applications
      • Familiarity with cGMP and ISO 13484 standards
      • Demonstrated capability to apply reliability engineering principals to design and development activities
      • Knowledge of engineering and statistical modeling software such as MATLAB or Minitab
      • Sound understanding of Lean Production and Six Sigma tools and principles
      • Strong leadership skills, self-directed and the ability to make independent decisions
      • Established project management skills
      • Excellent interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills
      • Ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment
      • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and drive corrective actions and continuous improvements efforts
